Smith County Junior Livestock Show raises record-breaking $272,000

The 2025 Smith County Junior Livestock Show (SCJLS) raised $272,000 for local youth, setting a new record for the annual event.

According to a press release from the show’s board, that total marks a $32,000 increase from the previous record set in 2023.

“The 2025 event was a huge success, thanks to the generosity and support of community businesses and individuals,” the board said in the release.

The highlights of the event was the Sale of Champions, where top student projects were auctioned off. During the show, the board also awarded $16,000 in scholarships to eight graduating seniors from across the county.

The recipients are:

• Madelyne Eaton, Arp FFA – $4,000

• Bailey Gilleland, Lindale FFA – $3,000

• Clara Brown, Smith County 4-H – $2,250

• Iris Leonard, Chapel Hill FFA – $2,250

• Keegan Blackburn, Lindale FFA – $1,250

• Cody Burke, Smith County 4-H – $1,250

• Lindsey Lowry, Troup FFA – $1,000

• Shelby Smith, Lindale FFA – $1,000

The board said it is proud of the continued growth of the show and remains committed to supporting students and their future goals.
