Softball Roundup: Bullard hits 5 homers in district opening win

PALESTINE — Brooklyn Brannen and Kaitlyn Ramirez combined on a one-hitter as the Bullard Lady Panthers defeated the Palestine LadyCats 13-0 on Friday in a District 18-4A softball game.

The Lady Panthers improve to 16-3 overall and 1-0 in district. Palestine falls to 5-9 and 0-1.


Brannen pitched the first three innings, allowing one hit with two walks and eight strikeouts. Ramirez hurled the final inning, walking one and striking out one.

Bullard also belted five home runs — Kirstin Malone, Kenzi Roberts, Denim Boles, Emery Baker and Brannen. Adding doubles were KK Mercer, Zaylee Zahriniak and Baylie Walker.

Malone had three hits with two hits apiece from Brannen and Zahriniak. Adding singles were Dakota Payne and Hudsen Walker. 

RBIs were from Brannen (3), Malone (2), Mercer (2), Boles (2), Roberts (1) and Baker (1).

Addison Minton had the lone hit for Palestine.

Bullard visits Hudson at 6:45 p.m Tuesday. Palestine plays host to Madisonville at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

PINE TREE 14, KILGORE 1

KILGORE — Mo Rougely homered, doubled, singled twice and drove in three runs, Taylor Burkhart struck out 10 and gave up just a couple of hits while issuing no walks and Pine Tree earned a 14-1 win over Kilgore.

Laykin Elliott had a double and an RBI for Pine Tree, and Jasmine Byrd singled and drove in two runs. Burkhart, E.K. Holder and Nia Woodson all chipped in with RBI.

Karsyn Stover struck out three and walked three in the pitching loss for Kilgore. Aniyah Polk came through with two singles, and Addison Pierson drove in a run for the Lady Bulldogs.

HENDERSON 10, SPRING HILL 2

LONGVIEW — Chloe Ellis struck out 10, walked a couple and allowed two earned runs on five hits in seven innings as the Henderson Lady Lions notched a 10-2 win over the Spring Hill Lady Panthers.

Addy Standley tripled, singled twice and scored three times for Henderson. Anna Cheek added two hits and an RBI. KK Brooks singled twice. Ellis doubled and drove in two runs, and Jacie Boothe, Brinklee Bowman and Addy Davis all contributed RBI.

Abbye McFaul and Mattye Moore pitched for Spring Hill. Josie Gray doubled, singled and drove in a run, and Aubreigh Whiddon added a single and an RBI for the Lady Panthers.

HALLSVILLE 11, MOUNT PLEASANT 1

MOUNT PLEASANT — Ella Baird struck out nine with no walks, giving up one earned run in five innings to lead the Hallsville Ladycats past Mount Pleasant 11-1.

Baird was also a playmaker at the plate for Hallsville with a home run, triple and seven RBI. Hope Miles added a home run, single and four RBI, and Audrey Jones chipped in with a pair of doubles.

GILMER 17, CHAPEL HILL 0

NEW CHAPEL HILL — Alexis Kemp tossed a two-hit shutout over four innings, striking out eight with no walks as the Gilmer Lady Buckeyes earned a 17-0 win over Chapel Hill.

Kemp also did damage on offense with a home run and four RBI. Kennedy Jordan had a triple, single and two RBI. Kendi Canady homered and drove in two runs. Kaydence Smith doubled. Alex Werbeck drove in a run, and Kara Williams chipped in with a double and two RBI.

ARP 16, TATUM 6

ARP — Lacy Fletcher stuck out 10 with two walks and one earned run allowed in five innings to lead the Arp Lady Tigers past the Tatum Lady Eagles, 16-6.

Fletcher helped her own cause at the plate with a home run, single and four RBI. Kaitlynn Raymond added a double, single and three RBI. Neci Potts homered and drove in three runs, and Aubry Way and Addison Carpenter also drove in runs.

TROUP 13, GLADEWATER 1

GLADEWATER — Taylor Gillispie struck out eight, walked one and gave up one hit in 4.1 innings as the Troup Lady Tigers notched a 13-1 win over Gladewater.

Heather Longino tripled, singled twice and drove in three runs, and Qhenja Jordan had three singles and an RBI for Troup. Shiloh Sluder singled three times and drove in a run. Olivia Anderson had a triple, two singles and two RBI. Ava Hays singled twice, and Makayla Spenser drove in a run. Gillispie helped her own cause with a home run and three RBI.

Alayah Gordon struck out three and walked two in 3.2 innings for Troup. Shaylee Ellis doubled and singled in the loss.

JEFFERSON 5, MPCH 1

MOUNT PLEASANT — Madison Clark struck out 10 and walked one, giving up three hits and no earned runs in seven innings to lead the Jefferson Lady Bulldogs to a 5-1 win over Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill.

Madison Clark and Jayden Jenkins drove in two runs apiece for Jefferson. Maddie Cooner singled and doubled. Rayleigh Gulk had two singles, and Karly Long chipped in with a double and an RBI. Janaa Goynes also doubled for Jefferson.

HUGHES SPRINGS 14, DAINGERFIELD 1

DAINGERFIELD — Addysyn Billings struck out 11, walked two and gave up one earned run in five innings, and Madilyn Derrick doubled and drove in five runs for the Lady Mustangs as Hughes Springs earned a 14-1 win over Daingerfield.

Shae’Leigh Johnson singled three times and drove in two runs. Claira Robinson had two singles and an rBI. Sadie Golden tripled and drove in a run, and Tessa Dannelley added a double and an RBI. Kate McKinney also chipped in with an RBI.

Khloe Stroman pitched for Daingerfield. Rachel Walker homered to drive in Daingerfield’s only run.

HARLETON 17, WASKOM 1

WASKOM — Maddi King doubled twice, singled and drove in four runs, Madison Flavela added a double and three RBI and the Harleton Lady Wildcats notched a 17-1 win over Waskom.

Annabelle Green got the pitching win with a four-inning no-hitter and also singled twice and drove in two runs. Kaylea Nealy tripled and Zoey Ring doubled, both driving in runs, and Mallory Gonzalez added an RBI. Green struck out five and walked four in four innings in the circle.

Jayden Cullum and Peyton Welch both pitched for Waskom.

BECKVILLE 13, UNION GROVE 4

BECKVILLE — Hannah Rogers, Londyn Courtney and Brilee Brumley all drove in two runs for Beckville as the Ladycats notched a 13-4 win over Union Grove.

Rogers doubled and singled. Landrie Dennard doubled twice, and Courtney doubled and singled. Brumley belted a home run, and Kalee Cameron chipped in with a double. Gracey Struwe and Kaitlyn Mauritzen also drove in runs to back solid pitching from Rogers and Emily Grandgeorge. Rogers struck out five and walked two in four innings, and Grandgeorge fanned six with two walks in three innings.

Olivia Dabreu pitched for Union Grove. Hailey Griffin singled twice and drove in a run, Mia Mullican doubled and added two RBI and Jordyn Bishop drove in a run for the Lady Lions.

HUDSON 15, CENTER 4

CENTER — Hudson scored nine times in the top of the second on the way to a 15-4 win over Center.

Abby Stringer doubled and singled, driving in a run, and Lauren Causey and Autumn Bennett also drove in runs for Center. Causey doubled and Bennett tripled.

RUSK 7, MADISONVILLE 2

RUSK — Braleigh Goff fanned eight and walked three in seven innings to lead the Rusk Lady Eagles past Madisonville, 7-2.

Aubrey Hassell led the way on offense with a double, single and two RBI. Goff tripled, doubled and drove in a run. Andrea Torres and Libbi Dyess added RBI, and Riley Collins doubled.
