Not wholesome

On my journey via State Highway 64 East from New Chapel Hill to Tyler, I pass Chapel Hill ISD high school and middle school. Within 4/10 of a mile of each is a vape (Electronic cigarettes) store and shop offering tattoos and piercings. Normally, I applaud entrepreneurs who use their skills to serve the public and produce an income. However, today I’m not applauding; I’m complaining.

Neither of these businesses represents what I consider wholesomeness. As a parent, I struggled to encourage my offspring to avoid smoking of any kind. Piercings were on the “no, no” list as well. Tattoos were taboo. I recognize that these three habits are debatable as to the “right and wrong” of them. Are they healthy? Hmm.

Thank you for taking the time to read my words about my stand for what I think is best for our community.

Inclusive or not?

Not very inclusive… The Texas Rose Festival Parade was OK — too many gaps between participants and not all bands played. But the display of cold persona at the end of the parade where hundreds wanted pics with queen didn’t feel very inclusive. It appeared there was a definite class separation or should I say haughtiness. There wasn’t a welcoming and warm and community feel.

There’s money, then there is the rest of us. But on a day of community, your title or your paycheck does not matter — we should all feel at ease and welcome to be a part, not just have candy thrown at the kids, which is kinda weird anyway.
