Travesty of justice
Thank you for printing recent articles about Robert Roberson, a Texas death row inmate from Palestine who is facing an Oct. 17 execution.
As I write this, I just got off the phone leaving a message for Gov. Greg Abbott, asking him to stay this man’s execution. Never have I read of a greater travesty of justice.
Just reading of the circumstances, as a former U.S. Army Assistant Hospital Wardmaster, the 2-year-old child in question could not have died of the alleged abuse. Prior illness seems much more likely.
This is a good example of why I, if I were governor, would not allow any execution without the condemned being questioned by the Texas Rangers utilizing Voice Stress Analysis first.

Editor’s Note: Roberson has requested clemency from the Texas Board of Pardons and Gov. Abbott. The board has until Tuesday, Oct. 15, two days before Roberson’s scheduled execution, to decide whether to recommend clemency, which would be up to Abbott to grant. Readers can contact Abbott at https://gov.texas.gov/apps/contact-us/opinion or 800-843-5789 (Texas) or 512-463-1782 (Austin or out-of-state callers).
