A man believed to be responsible for a 2017 murder in Shreveport was recently arrested after he was found to be living under an alias in Panola County.

Keithon Lovelace, 42, was arrested by the Panola County Sheriff’s Office on Friday. In addition to being arrested on a warrant for murder, Lovelace was also charged with possession of marijuana measuring less than 2 ounces.

The Shreveport Police Department named Lovelace as a suspect in an April 27, 2017 murder shortly after the incident. SPD officers found 29-year-old Randy Taylor suffering from a gunshot wound on Line Avenue. Taylor later died from his injuries.

SPD said Lovelace has been on the run for nearly eight years.

“An arrest warrant was issued for Lovelace on one count of second-degree murder, but despite numerous efforts, officers were unable to locate him. Over the years, intelligence suggested that Lovelace had left the Shreveport area, complicating efforts to bring him to justice,” SPD said.

Recently, SPD said detectives received information that Lovelace had been living under an alias in Panola County.

“Authorities there took Lovelace into custody on narcotics-related offenses under a false name. Further investigation revealed his true identity, and his outstanding warrant for second-degree murder was executed,” SPD said.

Lovelace has been extradited to Caddo Parish, where he will now face charges for the 2017 homicide.

“The Shreveport Police Department commends the hard work and dedication of our Violent Crimes detectives and law enforcement partners in bringing this fugitive to justice,” SPD said.
