Tyler’s Shonda Marsh announces District 3 campaign

Shonda Marsh, lifelong resident of Northwest Tyler and healthcare professional with more than 30 years of experience, this week announced her candidacy for the District 3 seat on the Tyler City Council.
In an announcement, Marsh outlined her platform, which focuses on expanding healthcare access, promoting economic growth, enhancing neighborhood safety and infrastructure and investing in youth education and community engagement.
Her healthcare career includes leadership roles during the COVID-19 pandemic and mentoring future professionals. She holds degrees in Respiratory Therapy, a Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Master’s from Walden University, where she is also pursuing a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration.
Marsh said her campaign will prioritize resilience, equity and collaboration, aiming to honor the district’s history while addressing the needs of families in Northwest Tyler.
Her campaign will officially launch at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 4 with a keynote speech at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. mural near the Wild Bunch Motorcycle Clubhouse, 1714 N. Palace Ave., followed by a meet-and-greet reception at Flourish Nonprofits, 416 S. Broadway, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Food and drinks will be provided at the reception.
