Fresh off a sweep of state-ranked Rockwall-Heath, the Tyler Legacy Red Raiders defeated Rusk 4-3 on Monday in a non-district game at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Mike Carter Field.
Dallas Walker hit two triples, driving in three runs, as the Red Raiders improved to 10-7 on the season.
Legacy is 2-0 in district and will play at North Forney (3-10-1, 1-1) on Tuesday in a District 10-6A game. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. The two clubs will face each other again on Friday at 7 p.m. in Tyler.
Rusk is 8-7 on the season. The Eagles are scheduled to visit Canton at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Brady Pollard and Cole Kimmel combined on the mound for the Red Raiders.
Pollard started and got the win, going 3.2 innings while allowing six hits and three runs (1 earned) with one walk and two strikeouts. Kimmel came on in relief, pitching 3.1 innings to get the save. He did not allow a hit, a run or a walk with striking out four.
Pollard added a double and single with Nolan Hable contributing a single.
Trent Byars had two hits for the Eagles with Bently Moore hitting a double. Singles were from Kade Blankenship, Tim Hill and Trenton Pepin.
Blankenship had two RBIs with runs scored by Moore, Byars and Tarren Hicks.
Ross Davis pitched all six innings for Rusk, allowing five hits and four runs (2 earned) with three walks and four strikeouts.
Marshall 16, Tyler 2
MARSHALL — The Marshall Mavericks scored a 16-2 win over the Tyler Lions on Friday in a District 10-5A baseball game.
The Lions are now 3-11 overall and 0-3 in district. The Mavericks improve to 5-9 and 2-1.
Da’Markous Pierce had a double for the Lions. Adding singles were Adrian Alvarado and Markeez Potts.
The Mavericks hit four home runs — Aldo Enriquez, Bryce Alexander, Cannon Thurman and Judson Illingworth. Kinslder Payne added a double.
Alexander, Thurman and Illingworth each drove in two RBIs.
Alexander drove in four runs on two hits.
Alexander hit a three-run home run in the first and added a two-run single in the third for the Mavericks. Enriquez homered and Jack Weaver drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the second, and the Mavs exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the third. Illingworth had a solo home run. Ayden Lewis added an RBI single. Caiden Lawson had an RBI groundout. Alexander plated two with a single and Cannon Thurmon walked and drove in a run and also homered for Marshall.
Weaver earned the pitching win for Marshall, striking out three and walking one.
LONGVIEW 3, CENTER 1
LONGVIEW — Payton Woods went the distance on the mound, and the Lobos took advantage of an error during a three-run fifth inning on the way to a 3-1 victory over the Center Roughriders at Lobo Field.
Woods struck out five and did not walk a batter, giving up one run on five hits.
Bryson Denning singled and drove in a run for the Lobos, and Javarey Valentine and Damien Kennedy had singles.
The Lobos tied the game at 1-1 in the third, scoring twice when Cole Ramey hit a hard smash to the shortstop and the ball was dropped by the Center first baseman to chase home two runs.
The Lobos (5-10) will open District 10-6A play at home on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. contest against Rockwall.
KILGORE 2, PINE TREE 1
KILGORE — In a District 16-4A battle, Kolton Hale singled with two outs in the bottom of the eighth as Kilgore walked off with a 2-1 win over the Pine Tree Pirates at Driller Park.
Kayson Brooks doubled with one out in the eighth, moving to third on a fly out and scoring on Hale’s single.
Jackson Tucker Phillips also drove in a run for Kilgore. Rafello Adamez went seven innings on the mound, striking out four with no walks or runs allowed on four hits. Salvador Cervantes pitched one inning, striking out two, walking three and giving up a run on two hits.
Pine Tree got singles from Bosston Johnson, Peyton Hightree, Braydon Marsh, Manuel Williams, Trey Nafrady and Zachary Duhart in the loss.
Duhart went 7.2 innings on the mound, striking out three, walking two and giving up one earned run.
HALLSVILLE 17, MOUNT PLEASANT 5
MOUNT PLEASANT — Trentan Johnson, Tyler Durrett and Cade Stuckey all homered for the Bobcats, and Hallsville rolled to a 17-5 win over Mount Pleasant on Friday.
Durrett and Stuckey drove in four runs apiece, with Durrett adding a single and Stuckey a double. Johnson drove in three runs, also adding a single to his long ball. Hawk Haynes, Landon Vineyard and Dunn Smith all had two hits for Hallsville, with Smith driving in two runs and Haynes and Vineyard driving in a run apiece. Ranson Smith chipped in with a double and two RBI.
Carter Hatchel struck out five and walked two in three innings. Preston Thomas fanned one in an inning of work, and Peyton Winner had two strikeouts and a walk in one frame.
CARTHAGE 16, CUMBERLAND 0
CARTHAGE — Alex Welk and Cade Ross combined on a four-inning one-hitter as the Carthage Bulldogs romped to a 16-0 win over Cumberland Academy.
Welk struck out six and walked one in three innings, and Ross fanned three of the four batters he faced in an inning of action.
Cale Preston led the offense with a double, two singles and four RBI. Maddox Martinez singled twice and drove in a run. River Leach tripled and chased home two runs. Ross added a single and an RBI. Kaden Ritter doubled. Blayton LaGrone tripled and drove in a run, and Cade More, Brooks Soape and Sam Watson all added an RBI. Watson had a double for the Bulldogs.
GILMER 12, CHAPEL HILL 1
NEW CHAPEL HILL — Ryder Lange struck out four in four innings, Aiden Davis fanned a couple in two innings on the hill and the Gilmer Buckeyes earned a 12-1 win over Chapel Hill.
Aden Vineyard singled three times and scored twice for the Buckeyes. Dillon Griffin had two hits and an RBI, Lange two hits and two RBI and Brayden Pate a single and one RBI. Pate also scored three runs.
TROUP 6, GLADEWATER 4
GLADEWATER — The Troup Tigers put together a four-run seventh inning and held on for a 6-4 win over the Gladewater Bears on Friday.
Luke Brown struck out six and walked three in seven innings for Gladewater. Aubry Floyd doubled and drove in two runs, and Brown and Preston Bohanon had two hits apiece. Bohanon and Mason Budro also drove in runs for the Bears.
HUGHES SPRINGS 13, WEST RUSK 3
HUGHES SPRINGS — In a District 13-3A battle, E.J. Searcy homered, singled twice and drove in four runs, Jake Pearson added a home run, double and two RBI and the Hughes Springs Mustangs pulled away late for a 13-3 win over West Rusk.
Chris Collins added a single and three RBI for the Mustangs. Tanner Westmoreland had a single and two RBI, and Kaleb Williams finished with two hits.
Chris Collins struck out five with no walks or earned runs allowed in four innings.
Cole Jackson struck out four, walked three and gave up four earned runs in three innings for West Rusk. Jason Reasoner walked three and gave up five earned runs in 1.2 frames. Reasoner had a double, two singles and an RBI for the Raiders. Jaxon Johnson and Caiden Landon both singled twice, and Troy Hunley singled and drove in two runs.
ORE CITY 17, ELYSIAN FIELDS 3
ELYSIAN FIELDS — Aydin Thomas struck out eight, with three walks and one earned run allowed in five innings as the Ore City Rebels earned a 17-3 win over Elysian Fields.
Ty Main doubled, singled and drove in four runs, and Gage Cavanaugh and Cayden Laster had three RBI apiece for the Rebels. Cavanaugh singled twice, and Laster had a double. Parker Hobbs finished with three hits and an RBI. Maverick Main singled twice and drove in one. Thomas had two hits and two RBI, and Blake Johns singled and plated two runs.
Evan White and Nunu Kennedy pitched for Elysian Fields. Zane Childs had two hits, and Cole Parker drove in a run for the Yellowjackets.
GARY 4, JOAQUIN 2
GARY — The Bobcats broke a 2-2 deadlock with two runs in the bottom of the fifth as Gary edged Joaquin, 4-2.
Landon Sipes struck out three with one walk in six innings, and Kohl Woodfin pitched a scoreless inning for the Bobcats. Aiden Scogins had two hits and drove in a run, and Brodey Seals doubled for Gary.
UNION HILL 9, LEVERETT’S CHAPEL 2
BETTIE — Union Hill took a 3-0 lead in the first and continued to pull away for a 9-2 win over Leverett’s Chapel.
Carson Ford struck out 11 and walked three in 5.2 innings for Leverett’s Chapel. Ford also had three singles, and Ethan Williams added a double for the Lions.
TATUM 17, ARP 6
ARP — Cooper Whiteus and Kody Hines drove in four runs apiece for Tatum in a 17-6 District 16-3A win over the Arp Tigers.
Whiteus tripled, doubled and singled, and Hines doubled for the Eagles. Dustin Henigan added a double, single and RBI. Cayden Tatum singled and drove in a run. Grant Adcock had a double, and Jaxen Prince added two RBI. Brody Downs and Tristin Berry also contributed RBI for the Eagles.
Berry went 5.2 innings on the mound for Tatum, striking out eight and walking one.
Iaaac Poe, Landon Smith, Caden Cliborn, Brody McDow and Layton Shelbourne all pitched for Arp. Abraxton Martin singled twice and drove in two runs. Will Sanford had a single and two RBI, and Hudson Opinedo singled and drove in one run.
BECKVILLE 12, UNION GROVE 4
BECKVILLE — Jackson Lambright doubled, singled twice and drove in three runs, and the Beckville Bearcats notched a 12-4 win over the Union Grove Lions.
Braxton Bullock tripled and drove in two runs, and Coy Stephens added a single and two RBI for Beckville. Reese Davis singled and drove in a run, and Aiden Harris chipped in with a double and an RBI.
Reed Chapman struck out seven and walked four in six innings, and Baker Seegers pitched a scoreless inning.
Carter Cooper struck out seven and walked six in four innings for the Lions. Porter Yohn fanned three and walked one in two innings. Judson George tripled and singled, and Yohn, Cason Cowan and Cooper all drove in runs.
HARLETON 11, WASKOM 0
HARLETON — Carson Wallace struck out 11, walked one and tossed a no-hitter at Waskom, and Harleton notched an 11-0 win on Friday.
Wallace threw strikes on 42 of his 61 pitches over four innings. At the plate, Mason Clark doubled and drove in a run. Shawn Booth doubled and plated two runs, and Caleb Correa added an RBI.
OVERTON 9, CARLISLE 2
PRICE — Rylan Holleman struck out four, walked four and allowed one earned run in five innings to go along with a big night at the plate, and the Overton Mustangs earned a 9-2 win over the Carlisle Indians.
Holleman homered twice and drove in five runs to lead the Mustangs on offense. Brody Brown, Bryson Bobbitt and Mason Rowe all doubled, and Braxton Harper, Joey Zalman and Rowe all drove in runs for Overton.
