Man pleads guilty to plotting to stalk, kill East Texas woman

A Kilgore man on Monday pleaded guilty to plotting to stalk, kidnap and kill his friend’s ex-girlfriend in a Smith County courtroom.

Brad McKinney, 53, entered a guilty plea to conspiracy to commit capital murder while renumeration during a hearing in the 7th District Court. His sentencing hearing was then set for July 31, according to online judicial records. The charge is a first-degree felony that carries a punishment range of five to 99 years to life in prison.

McKinney and Dustin Yates, 51, of San Marcos, were arrested in January for allegations of stalking of Yates’ ex-girlfriend.
