Funeral services for Lawrence Dunn, 84, of Murchison, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Allen Cemetery near Murchison under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Dunn passed away on June 12, 2025, in Athens.

Lawrence Owens Dunn was born on October 13, 1940, in Nineveh, Texas. He was the son of Luther Nichols Dunn and Hazel Juanita Owens Dunn. Lawrence graduated from Woodhouse High School near Palestine, where he was an accomplished athlete. He later attended Henderson County Junior College for two years. Lawrence dedicated over 40 years of his career to Kelly Springfield/Goodyear and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Murchison. He was also a Mason with the St. John’s Lodge, as well as the Brownsboro Lodge. He was raised to the degree of Knights Templar, Scottish Rite, and York Rite. An outdoor enthusiast, Lawrence enjoyed hunting and gardening and was an avid fisherman and a professional tinkerer. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Pearl (Spivey) Dunn; his son, Jerry Glasgow; and two sisters, Susie Williams and Frances Weir.

Survivors include his children, Larry Dunn and wife Leslee of Malakoff and Terry Dunn of La Vernia, Texas; his sisters, Teresa Cole and husband BJ of Palestine, Karen Huffman and husband Dave of LaQuinta, California, and Lela Laredo of Biloxi, Mississippi; his grandchildren, Abby Dunn, John Dunn, Clayton Dunn, and Dr. Sarah Dunn-Osborne and husband Ryan; one great-grandchild, Owen Dunn; and special family member, Tricia Dunn.

Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Dunn, Terry Dunn, Clayton Dunn, John Dunn, Owen Dunn, and BJ Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Browning, Tommy Morse, Mark Tillison, Howard Tillison, Tony Baker, and Yancy Miller.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2025, from 4-6:00 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
