WHITEHOUSE — Whitehouse High School had four soccer players sign to play at the collegiate level on Tuesday inside C.L. Nix Wildcat Arena.

Javi Gonzalez and Landon Neely will team up at UT Tyler. Braxton Ladwig is headed to Lubbock Christian University. Audrey Hall will play for East Texas Baptist University.

“It was close to home,” Gonzalez said of UT Tyler. “I get to stay around my friends and family. I like the community and stuff around here.”

“Just being close to home as well as their new medical programs that are coming in,” Neely said. “I just thought it would be a really good fit for my future and career.”

Gonzalez, a defensive midfielder, was the District 10-5A Most Valuable Player with eight goals and three assists this season. Neely, an outside back and winger, had 16 goals and nine assists for the Wildcats (11-5-6, 7-4-5).

“It’s very cool,” Neely said of getting to play with Gonzalez. “It’s definitely a reason I went there, just having a brotherhood and being able to continue to play together.”

“I was excited just to even play high school and then club and then now even higher at UT Tyler, it’s always been a dream of mine to play at the next level,” Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez will major in business. Neely said he will either pursue sports medicine or being an orthopedic surgeon.

Ladwig will head to West Texas to play for Lubbock Christian.

“When I went on the visit, the coaches made me feel really at home,” Ladwig said. “Everybody was nice there. One of my good friends, Beaux Benson, he’s the goalie there. And I just think it was a good hit for me.”

Ladwig plays up top and as a midfielder. He led the Wildcats with 22 goals and 14 assists.

“I think I can bring the creativity I think I have,” Ludwig said. “I can help set up some goals and help bring some wins to the team.”

Ladwig said he plans to major in business and financing.

Hall will go to Marshall to play for the ETBU Lady Tigers.

“They’re just a spiritual school, and they bring so much joy in everything they do,” Hall said. “They bring God in everything. I just knew if I wanted to continue soccer, I wanted it to be godly and with God’s love.”

Hall played defender for the Ladycats (11-5-5, 8-4-3).

“I’m very competitive,” Hall said. “I’m just ready to see what God has planned for it all.”

Hall said she plans to be a pediatric nurse.
