Whitehouse takes win over Lions

Ben Reed was a double shy of the cycle and drove in three runs to power the Whitehouse Wildcats to a 12-2 win over the Tyler Lions on Friday in a District 10-5A baseball game at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Mike Carter Field.


The Wildcats improve to 14-5 overall and 5-0 in district. The Lions fall to 3-14 and 0-6.

Reed was 3 for 3 with a homer, triple and single. He also scored two runs.

Jojo Adams, Winn Harriss and Hunter Cook each had two hits. One of Adams’ hits was a double.

Adding hits for the Wildcats were UT Tyler signee JJ Idrogo, Caleb Russell and Jayden Singletary.

Also driving in runs were Adams (2) and Harriss (1).

Five Wildcat pitchers were on the mound — Joshua Cowart (1 inning, 2 hits, 1 run, 0 walks, 2 strikeouts), Mason Johnson (1 inning, 0 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts), Saylor Wilcox (1 inning, 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 walks, 2 strikeouts), Jared Beaumont (1 inning, 2 hits, 1 run, 0 walks, 1 strikeout) and Tyler Keen (1 inning, 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 walks).

Wilcox was credited with the win.

Adrian Alvarado led Tyler with two hits. He also scored a run. Aden Portley added a double and knocked in a run.

Adding singles for the Lions were Malachi Deleon, Da’Markous Pierce and Markeez Potts. Potts also scored a run.

The Lions have two games next week — Tuesday at Nacogdoches (7 p.m.) and Saturday, March 29 vs. Hallsville (7 p.m.).

Whitehouse has three games next week — at Hallsville on Tuesday (7 p.m.), vs. Texas High on Friday (7 p.m.) and vs. Mount Pleasant on Saturday, March 29 (2:30 p.m.).

ROCKWALL 3, LONGVIEW 0

LONGVIEW — Rockwall scored lone runs in the first, third and fifth inning, all with two outs, on the way to a 3-0 victory over the Longview Lobos in District 10-6A action.

Payton Woods had two singles and Cole Ramey added a single for the Lobos in the loss.

Kieffer Doxey pitched four innings for the Lobos, giving up two runs on three hits while walking four and striking out four. Roman Guidry worked 1.2 innings, giving up two hits and a run. Woods pitched two thirds of an inning, throwing one pitch and inducing a double play.

The Lobos did not commit an error.

Longview visits Forney on Tuesday and hosts Forney at 7 p.m. on Friday.

BULLARD 3, SPRING HILL 2

LONGVIEW — The Bullard Panthers scored twice in the top of the sixth to build a 3-1 lead and held on for a 3-2 non-district win over the Spring Hill Panthers on Saturday.

Mason Barnes struck out four with no walks and one earned run allowed in five innings for Spring Hill. Cayson Wilkins fanned two with no walks and two earned runs allowed in two innings.

Corbin Broyles, Trent Thompson, Travis Allen, Cayden Rhodes and Barnes all singled for the Panthers. Allen drove in a run.

LUFKIN 7, HALLSVILLE 1

HALLSVILLE — The Lufkin Panthers scored three times in the top of the seventh to put things away in a 7-1 win over the Hallsville Bobcats.

Preston Thomas struck out four and walked one in 3.2 innings and Carter Hatchel fanned three with two walks in three innings for Hallsville. Tyler Durrett had two singles and Hawk Haynes drove in a run for the Bobcats.

KILGORE 2, HENDERSON 0

HENDERSON —- Tanner Beets struck out six, walked three and blanked Henderson on five hits as the Kilgore Bulldogs notched a 2-0 win over the Lions.

Kolton Hale doubled, singled and drove in a run for Kilgore, and Joseph Hendrickson added a single and an RBI.

CARTHAGE 12, CHAPEL HILL 2

NEW CHAPEL HILL — Alex Welk struck out 10, walked five and gave up two earned runs in 6.2 innings, and Andrew Gwinn struck out the only batter he faced for Carthage as the Bulldogs earned a 12-2 win over Chapel Hill.

Cale Preston banged out four hits and drove in two runs for Carthage. Brooks Soape added a double, two singles and five RBI. Blayton LaGrone tripled, doubled and singled. Cade Ross and Maddox Martinez both doubled, and Kaden Ritter, Cade Moore and Martinez all drove in runs.

HARMONY 9, MPCH 8

HARMONY — The Harmony Eagles walked off with a 9-8 win over Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill, using two hit batsmen, a walk and an error to bring in two runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Blayne Hart struck out four and walked six, giving up one earned run in four innings, and Ollie Trimble fanned five, walked four and allowed one earned run in three innings for Harmony.

Cy Stracener, Jake Rider and Tucker Armstrong had hits for Harmony, and Hart drove in a run.

WEST RUSK 7, TROUP 4

TROUP — Cole Jackson struck out 10 with three walks and no earned runs allowed in six innings for West Rusk as the Raiders earned a 7-4 win over Troup.

Jason Reasoner pitched one inning, striking out three and walking one.

Troy Hunley tripled, singled and drove in a run for the Raiders. Reasoner singled twice. Gunner Harp doubled and drove in a run, and Caiden Landon and Jackson both added RBI.
