Area boys will compete at powerlifting state meet

Several area powerlifters are competing in the Texas High School Powerlifting Association state meet that is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene.

Tyler Legacy and Tyler High will both have lifters competing in Division 1.


For Tyler Legacy are Wyatt Tanksley (1,405 total in 181-pound class), Jadaelyn Jackson (1,600 total in 275-pound class) and Eric Miller (1,500 total in super heavyweight class).

For Tyler is Tristen Taylor (1,605 total In 275-pound total).

Lindale will be well represented in Division 2.

Competing for Lindale is Sam Vasquez (920 total in 114-pound class), Gabriel Crisp (985 total in 123-pound class), Pat Weldon (1,455 total in 198-pound class), Gunner Johnson (1,640 total in 220-pound class) and Drew Ragland (1,545 total in 242-pound class).

Also competing in Division 2 are Brownsboro’s Ethan Ramsey (1,025 total in 123-pound class), Palestine’s Jace Harrod (1,115 total in 132-pound class), Wills Point’s Grayson Mixon (1,245 total in 148-pound class), Mabank’s Hunter Boswell (1,325 total in 165-pound class), Jessitin Starling (1,225 total in 165-pound class), Athens’ Daniel Castaneda (1,735 total in 181-pound class, Bullard’s Brodie Aylor (1,580 total in 220-pound class), Wills Point’s Jacob Samples (1,505 total in 220-pound class), Mabank’s, Christian Torres (1,485 total in 242-pound class), Athens’ Brandon Casas (1,485 total in 242-pound class) and Brownsboro’s Javarius Bell (1,500 total in 275-pound class).

Competing in Division 3 are Quitman’s Jayden Markham (1,200 total in 123-pound class), Quitman’s Dakota Brown (940 total in 123-pound class), Quitman’s Bryce Miller (1,060 total in 132-pound class), Arp’s Antonio Ponce (1,510 total in 181-pound class), Troup’s Brett Wells (1,350 total in 181-pound class), Elkhart’s Garrett Lively (1,350 total in 181-pound class), Elkhart’s Atticus Polk (1,400 total in 198-pound class), Malakoff’s Shawn Meadows (1,450 total in 220-pound class) and Arp’s Bryce Everett (1,745 total in superheavyweight class).
