Pitching, Garner HR lift Legacy by Hawks

HEATH — Simeon Garner hit a two-run homer in the 10th innings and Nolan Hable knocked in another run as Tyler Legacy scored a 3-0 win over Rockwall-Heath on Friday, sweeping the defending District 10-6A baseball champions.
The Red Raiders defeated the Hawks 3-2 earlier this week in Tyler. TL improves to 11-8 overall and 2-0 in district. Rockwall-Heath, ranked No. 6 in the state, falls to 8-5 and 0-2.
Calvin Rippy started the game on the mound for Legacy, going six innings while allowing seven hits (all singles) with two walks and striking out three.
Rippy was followed on the hill with shutdown innings from Jaden Davis (2 innings, 0 hits, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts) and Hable (2 innings, 1 single, 0 walks, 3 strikeouts).
Ian Rister was the starter for Hawkins, going 6.2 innings and giving up two hits with five walks and 11 strikeouts.
Garner led Legacy with two hits. Noah Felton hit a triple with singles from Garner McKinney and Hable.
McKinney made an outstanding diving game-saving catch in left field with two outs in the bottom of the eight to keep the game scoreless.
Brady LaDusau led the Hawks with three hits, while Alex Cooley and Mick Randle had two each. Parker Ivy added a single.
Kolton Flowers took the loss, going the final 3.1 innings (3 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts).
The Red Raiders host Rusk in a non-district game at 7 p.m. Monday at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Mike Carter Field. They will then meet North Forney on Tuesday (7 p.m. in Forney) and Friday (7 p.m. in Tyler).
