All unofficial results in Smith County have been reported.

Polls closed at 7 p.m. Tuesday night after residents exercised their right to vote in the 2024 Presidential Election. Voters cast ballots during two weeks during early voting and on Election Day, Nov. 5.


As of 10 p.m., 38 of 38 polling places reported results and those have been released by the county elections office. These results are considered unofficial until they are canvassed, typically about two weeks after the election in Smith County.

A total of 62.33% of registered voters turned out in this general election, the county reported.

During early voting, 84,436 ballots were cast in Smith County, accounting for more than half of all registered voters. That includes 81,554 in-person votes and 2,882 mail-in ballots. Nov. 6 is the last day to receive a ballot by mail. It must be postmarked Nov. 5.

There are 162,000 registered voters in Smith County for the current election. About 52% of people voted during early voting.

Among the highlights from Tuesday’s election include Republican dominance locally, including Smith County Precinct 3 candidate J. Scott Herod earning a victory while Daniel Alders got the nod for Texas House District 6.
