Head to Oktoberfest, celebrate Hispanic heritage and more this weekend in East Texas

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, check out this list of events and activities around East Texas.


39th annual Countryfest, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 12, Picker’s Pavilion at Blackberry Square, 205 E. North St, Lindale. Eleventh annual Harvest Hustle 5K and Kids 1K Race begins at 8:30 am by the Cannery Stage. Silent auction, car show, food vendors and more. All children’s activities are free.

Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration: Rose City Fiesta, 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 12, Bergfeld Park, 1501 S. Broadway Ave, Tyler. Artisan and food vendors as well as cultural performances including music and dance showcasing Hispanic heritage. Cost: Free.

Kilgore’s ninth annual Oktoberfest, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Oct. 12, downtown Kilgore. Authentic German food, music by The Royal Klobasneks, drinks and family-friendly activities. Information: tinyurl.com/47jwn8ta .

Third annual Voices of Hope hosted by East Texas Crisis Center, 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 11, True Vine Brewing Co., 2453 Earl Campbell Parkway, Tyler. Voices of Hope aims to elevate awareness of domestic violence. Attendees can enjoy drinks as well as performances by Gypsum & the Travelers, Reagan Pena and Lauren Alexander. Donations of $10 are accepted.

Gospel artist Sandi Patty in concert, 7 p.m., Oct. 11, Marvin Methodist Church, 300 W. Erwin St., Tyler. Tickets: tinyurl.com/22xvfjx9 .

Boos & Bourbon: A Night of Scary Science, 7 to 10 p.m., Oct. 11, Discovery Science Place, 308 N. Broadway Ave, Tyler. Adults-only fundraiser benefits Discovery Science Place: Haunted bourbon tastings, ghostly costume contest, eerie entertainment, wicked live auction, spooktacular food and drinks and creepy cocktails. Downtown Live, 5 to 8 p.m., Oct. 11, Heritage Plaza, downtown Longview. Performance by Rick Brown & The Lonestar Bootleggers. Downtown Live is free to attend and it is open to all ages. Food will be available for purchase from food trucks, and beer and wine also will be available to purchase. However, attendees are not allowed to bring their own alcoholic beverages. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair.

Longview Symphony Orchestra’s all-Beethoven program, doors open at 6 p.m., concert starts at 7 p.m., Oct. 12, Belcher Center at LeTourneau University. Tickets: tinyurl.com/3ff6evvf .

Teen Hangout: Fandom Costume Party, 2 to 4 p.m., Oct. 12, Longview Public Library, 222 W. Cotton St., Longview. Attendees ages 13 to 17 are invited to wear their best fandom-based and pop culture-related costume. Light refreshments will be served, and activities are planned. Cost: Free.
