BULLARD — The freshmen continued to step up for the Bullard Brook Hill baseball team as Josh Jenkins pitched a complete game and ten Guard hits led to a 14-0 win over Dallas Shelton on Tuesday night at Herrington Field.

Jenkins added security at the plate, ripping a two-RBI single in the final Guard at-bat for the 14-0 cushion. Jenkins rung up his fifth strikeout for the final out.

The frosh righty walked only one in the three-hitter, allowing one double stranding two runners.

Another freshman, second baseman Reid Hill, stretched the Brook Hill lead to 8-0, slapping a two-RBI single in the third.

“Our freshmen have been stepping up all season long for us,” senior catcher Blake Maddox said. “Josh threw a great game today, Reid (Hill) has been clutch for us all year and we have had some others with key plays for us.”

Maddox started all the scoring in the second, hitting a 3-1 pitch 50-feet over the 385-foot left centerfield fence. McCray Fletcher (1 for 3, two runs), punished a 0-2 count for a double, followed by a single from Jace Kuechle (2 for 2, three runs, double, two RBIs). Fletcher scored on a passed ball and Kuechle was plated on one of two doubles by Ryan Cox for a 4-0 lead after two.

The Guard (7-7, 3-1 TAPPS 2-4A) will travel to Dallas to play Shelton (3-7, 1-4) on Friday.

Brook Hill was coming off a doubleheader sweep of Carrollton Prince of Peace on Saturday. The Guard won 19-0 on a three-inning no-hitter by Blake Maddox and Reid Hill and 15-0. On Friday Brook Hill beat Frisco Legacy Christian 7-0.
