Tyler Paper takes second place for online newspaper

WACO — The Tyler Morning Telegraph on Sunday received a second place award for online newspaper of the year at the Associated Press Managing Editors convention in Waco.
The El Paso Times won first place for online newspaper.
Reporters Kenneth Dean and Adam Russell also received an honorable mention in the Freedom of Information category for their coverage into accusations that a Smith County Sheriff’s Office deputy falsified educational credentials in an attempt to receive a pay increase.
The awards followed 11 others the newspaper received Saturday at the convention, where the newspaper competed again newspapers in Division 3, which includes newspapers with Sunday circulations between 30,000 and 124,999. Editor Allison Pollan and Managing Editor Carlina Villalpando attend the convention.
