The Longview Lady Lobos soccer team brought out the heavy artillery, blasting away with 17 shots on goal and scoring a 2-0 victory over the Lindale Lady Eagles in the Class 5A girls bi-district matchup on Friday night at Tyler Junior College’s Pat Hartley Field.

Lindale’s goalkeeper Kamryn York had a strong game for the Lady Eagles, making 14 saves.

The Lady Eagles put on some early pressure, but a missed penalty kick in the sixth minute thwarted the momentum.

The Lady Lobos scored in the 24th-minute. Outside midfielder Kaitlyn Adams made a slick steal at midfield and chipped a pass to the middle for teammate Kristi Stevens.

Stevens one-touched a pass directly to Selna Deluna, who was streaking through the mouth of the net and from 10 yards Deluna dribbled the ball inside the left corner for a 1-0 lead.

Longview added some insurance in the 55th minute as Deluna was good on a penalty kick after a handball was called on Lindale.

Longview (17-3-3) advances to the area round against Mansfield Legacy. The game is scheduled for Thursday at Bruce Field in Athens. The start time has not been determined.
