Boy, 12, recovering after being hit by car

A 12-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle at South Lyons and West Jackson streets at 4:40 p.m. Monday.
According to information provided by the Tyler Police Department, an investigation showed the boy stepped off the curb and was walking west across Lyon when he was struck by the vehicle traveling northbound. Witnesses said the boy had ear buds in his ears and may have been distracted before walking onto the busy road.
The driver of the vehicle was found not to be at fault but was arrested for outstanding arrest warrants from Tyler Municipal Court. The driver also was cited for not having insurance, and the vehicle was towed.
The Tyler Police Department, Tyler Fire Department and East Texas Medical Center responded to the scene.
