A Longview woman died following an early morning single-vehicle wreck Thursday in Gladewater.

Angie Neldine Smith, 36, was pronounced dead at a hospital, shortly after the 12:30 a.m. wreck in the 1600 block of George Richey Road.

Smith’s SUV was found crashed into a tree off the roadway, Gladewater Police Chief Rob Vine said in a statement.

Police said it appeared the SUV was traveling at a high enough speed to cause significant damage to the vehicle when it left the roadway and struck the tree.

The cause of the wreck is not known at this time, Vine said.
