AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Police say a man is charged with murder in the death of another man who lived in the same north Austin group home.
Thirty-eight-year-old Ghamal Webb was booked at the Travis County Jail on Tuesday with bail set at $75,000. Online jail records didn’t list an attorney for him on Thursday.
Officers say they found on Monday night 62-year-old Ben Thompson Jr. unresponsive at the home. Thompson was pronounced dead almost an hour later.
Police say Thompson and Webb lived in separate rooms at the group home and had been placed there by Caritas of Austin, which helps people affected by poverty and homelessness.
A spokeswoman for Caritas of Austin declined to discuss Thompson’s death.
Further details weren’t released.
