HOUSTON (AP) — A Houston-area businessman must serve nearly six years in federal prison and repay $2.6 million for distributing bogus high-end bags.
Han Woon Liew of Sugar Land was sentenced Monday in Houston. Liew in November was convicted of conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit goods.
Investigators say Liew from 2012 through April 2014 trafficked in fake goods, specifically counterfeit Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, Coach and Gucci purses and wallets.
Prosecutors say Liew knowingly used counterfeit marks, which were registered trademarks, in an attempt to make the fake items appear legitimate.
He was sentenced to 70 months in prison.
