Staff Reports

Starting Sunday, visitors to the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC) may pay an admission fee to harvest up to five rainbow trout, without the usual harvest fee.

No fishing license is required, and the TFFC will supply bait and tackle (but no ice chests, ice, or stringers). Visitors may bring their own bait and tackle, which will be inspected before use, as only single hooks with mashed down barbs are allowed. No live or dead bait such as fish, crawfish, or aquatic insects will be allowed. Commercially-prepared baits and natural baits like crickets, chicken livers, or vegetables will be accepted, if cleared by the staff at the Anglers Pavilion.

TFFC is located at 5550 F.M. 2495. Its hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is $5.50 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 4 through 12, and $4.50 for persons 65 and older. No pets will be allowed. For more information, www.tpwd.texas.gov/tfcc or call 903-676-2277.
