TJC opens with Alabama teams

It will be Texas vs. Alabama in the first round of the NJCAA basketball tournaments.
More precisely, Tyler Junior College vs. the Yellowhammer State.
The Apache Ladies and Apaches found out their seedings and opponents on Monday for the national tournament.
Both squads will open on Monday with the Apaches (24-9) playing in the morning in Hutchinson, Kansas, and the Apache Ladies (28-4) playing in the evening in Salina, Kansas. The two towns are about 65 miles apart.
The Apaches are the No. 17 seeds and will be meeting No. 16 Faulkner State of Bay Minette, Alabama. The Sun Chiefs are 25-6.
Tipoff is 10 a.m. with the winner meeting No. 1 seed Connors State (31-1) of Warner, Oklahoma at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The Apache Ladies are the No. 10 seeds and will play No. 23 Lawson State (24-9) of Birmingham, Alabama, at 8:30 p.m. Monday in the first round.
The winner of the TJC and Lady Cougars game will play No. 7 Southern Idaho (21-11) at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
The Trinity Valley women (29-3) are the No. 3 seed and receive a first-round bye. The Lady Cardinals, the defending national champions, will play either No. 14 Eastern Arizona (27-4) or No. 19 Wallace State (27-5) (Alabama) at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
In the men’s tourney, Trinity Valley (27-4) is the No. 11 seed and will play at noon Tuesday against No. 22 Monroe College (24-8) of New York. The winner plays No. 6 Hutchinson (Kansas) at 8 p.m. Wednesday. No. 15 San Jacinto (28-5) will play No. 18 Columbia State (25-6) of Tennessee at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
