Project Graduation is a program offered by many high schools throughout the state, in which organized, adult-supervised activities are offered as part of a post-graduation party. Events often last through the night and are held in school gymnasiums or community centers. Students are checked for illicit substances before entry and are carefully monitored throughout the night.
“This is a final night to build memories with high school friends, and a safe alternative to other activities that may normally take place on graduation night,” Lindale High School Instructor Melanie McNiel said.
Project Graduation 2015 will take place at Lindale High School on the night of graduation, June 4. Doors will open at 10:30 p.m. and students will stay overnight until 5:30 a.m.
The event will be open to all seniors who will be invited to attend this “lock-in” that will include food, games, activities and many prizes.
Activities will include laser tag, karaoke, bounce houses, Xbox and movies. The prizes will be given to those in attendance toward the end of the evening.
Parents of LHS seniors are hoping to acquire prizes such as iPads, mini-fridges, microwaves and similar items the students will use as they move on. The items given will depend on how much money is raised, as well as how much support is received from the Lindale community for the graduating class of 2015.
