MCKINNEY — Martins Mill used 21 points from Davis Moore and drained eight 3-pointers to run away from Muenster for a 46-28 win Saturday in the boys Class 2A Region II championship game at North High School.

The victory moves the Mustangs (33-4) to the Class 2A state semifinals next week at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Muenster completes its season at 33-4.

The Mustangs came into the game undersized against Muenster, which sports all-state post Lyndon Cook.

The Mustangs countered that by playing fast from the opening tip.

Martins Mill raced out to a 19-10 lead at the end of the first quarter and Muenster never recovered.

“Our plan was just to play as fast we could because they’d had to play three days in a row,” Mustangs coach Trae Moore said. “The kids executed really well. Our posts Dylan Weatherford and Jacob Greenlee held Cook to five points, so they did awesome.”

Martins Mill does not know its opponent yet for the state semifinals, which will take place Friday.

The UIL will announce the schedule on Sunday.
