GARLAND — Robert E. Lee surrendered five goals earlier this season at home in a district soccer loss to Lakeview Centennial.
In the rematch, it was the Lady Raiders who hit the back of the net five times in a 5-0 win Monday at Homer B. Johnson Stadium. The game was a makeup from last week’s scheduled contest that was postponed because of icy weather.
The Lady Raiders led 3-0 at halftime and added two more in the second half.
Alex Bice scored twice, Jazmine Navarro had a goal and two assists, and Kourtney Hitchcock had a goal and an assist. Claire Carnes also had a goal with Ashley Oldham notching an assist.
The five-goal win pushs Lee to 6-3 (17 points) in District 11-6A and 10-6-1 overall.
“It was nice to get our five goals back against them,” Lee coach Chris Woodard said. “We lost 5-3 to them the first time. We kind of have turned things around defensively. Our goalkeeping and defense is better and it is shows (with the results).”
Lauren Nichols and Maddie Filla combined in net for the clean sheet while Jamie Mills notched an assist in her first game back returning from injury.
