Lindale survived four shots by Longview in the last 20 seconds to hold on for a 63-62 victory over the Lobos in a Class 5A bi-district boys basketball playoff on Tuesday at Wagstaff Gymnasium.

The Eagles advance to meet either No. 1 Lancaster or Dallas Spruce later this week in area action.

Jordan Gray led the Eagles with 25 points, while Laettner Greenhill added 15.

Trez O’Quinn paced the Lobos with 26 points.

Greenhill drove in for a layup with 2:41 to go in the game to give the Eagles a 61-53 advantage.

Longview then scored the next nine points to take a 62-61 advantage. The run was topped off when O’Quinn completed an old-fashion three-point play on a steal and a drive to the basket with 1:19 to go.

Lindale worked the ball around and when Gray drove the lane, the Lobos defense surrounded him. Gray then passed the ball to Garrett Sir Louis on his left who hit a layup to give the Eagles a 63-62 lead with 58.6 seconds remaining in the game.

Longview missed a shot at 35-second mark and Kale Ridge rebounded and was fouled.

Ridge missed the front end of the one-and-one and Longview rebounded.

At the 20-second mark Longview called timeout. However, the Lobos could not get the game-winner.

“I was praying one of those shots wouldn’t go in,” Lindale coach Scott Albritton said. “(During the timeout) I told them we needed our best defensive possession of the year. I don’t know if it was, but it worked out.”
