TxDOT preparing for wintry conditions

TYLER – Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) crews will begin pretreating several highways today in anticipation of wintry conditions forecast for the area late Sunday.
According to TxDOT, its Special Crews will start pretreating I-20 with a salt brine solution at 6 p.m. Toll 49 and U.S. 259 will also be pretreated.
If the weather forecast holds, TxDOT maintenance forces will be reporting to work Sunday evening to monitor roadways and take necessary precautions to keep them open and passable. In the rest of safety, motorists are reminded to stay off the roads should icy conditions develop to the point of making travel problematic.
