WINONA (KYTX)- An early morning fire destroys a Smith County home. It happened just before three on Landry Lane in Winona.

Firefighters say four people were inside at the time. Everyone made it out safely except the family’s dog, a chihuahua.

Firefighters believe the fire started when a space heater or electrical outlet caught the couch on fire. The son and dad tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher.

We’re told the family had no insurance and are staying with their landlord.

Firefighters from Red Springs and Winona helped put out the fire.
