Robert E. Lee senior Makenna Aycock struck out 13 and Chelsie Robinson and Brittany Hogge each had two hits in a 5-1 win over Jacksonville Tuesday at Faulkner Park.

The Lady Raiders (1-0) trailed 1-0 after the top of the first inning before responding to tie it up in the first. Lee took the lead with two runs in the third and tacked on two more in the fifth.

“It was an excellent way to start off the season,” first-year Lee coach Maggie Stephenson said. “We always talk to the girls about strong starts and strong finishes. We continued to get big hits and runs throughout the game.

“We hit collectively and that was the key.”

Lee will next compete at the Forney Tournament. The Lady Raiders open against Forney at 3 p.m. Thursday at Forney ISD Fields.
