BULLARD — Michael Nwosu and Michael Omini each scored two goals as Bullard Brook Hill used a rampaging second half to take down Austin Regents 5-0 in the TAPPS Division II area playoffs on Wednesday at Herrington Stadium.
The Guard (14-2) led 1-0 at halftime before making a few adjustments to win going away. They’ll now face Colleyville Covenant Christian on Saturday at a neutral site to be determined.
“I’m real proud of them,” Brook Hill coach David Collins said. “Their effort was good, pace of play was good, especially in the second half we played really well as a team and that’s how we got it done.”
Nwosu scored the first and last goal and in between Omini struck twice and Victor Loolo also found the back of the net. Kyle Regester notched two more assists while Abner Shin also set up a goal.
Jace Kuechle was called upon to make six saves to record the clean sheet.
Brook Hill now prepares for a rematch with Covenant Christian, the only team to beat the Guard last season.
Last year Brook Hill and Covenant Christian were in Division III. The Cougars scored four goals in the second half to beat the Guard 5-0 in the state semifinals on the way to a second straight state title.
Covenant Christian graduated nine seniors from that team and finished second in TAPPS D-II District 1 this year. Brook Hill graduated two seniors from last year and thrived in Division II, winning the District 2 title.
