The 10th Annual Best Chocolate Dessert in East Texas Contest is scheduled for Saturday at the Tyler Senior Citizens Center, 1915 Garden Valley Road, organizers said.

The Smith County Extension Education Association and the city of Tyler Parks and Recreation Department will present the contest. Entries will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Divisions are youth up to age 17 and adult for 18 years and older. The entry fee is $1 per item entered, and will be due on the day of the contest.

Entry forms are available at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Smith County. Contestants also can complete their entries at the Senior Citizens Center when they bring their desserts and recipes to the contest.

In addition to the bragging rights from being selected the best chocolate dessert in East Texas, cash prizes will be awarded to the top three in each division.

A food demonstration class will be offered to the public and contestants beginning at 1 p.m. Admission is free, however a donation of purchased, individually wrapped snack items will benefit the youth at the Glass Center.
