The Robert E. Lee boys basketball team plays Rowlett today in its regular-season and District 11-6A finale. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. at REL Varsity Gymnasium.

Garland Lakeview Centennial (10-3) has already clinched a playoff spot. Also Garland (9-4) and Rowlett (9-4) are in the postseason.

Lee (8-5) and Rockwall (7-6) are still in the hunt.

Today’s final slate of games means there will be plenty of scoreboard watching too. The Red Raiders host Rowlett, Rockwall is on the road at Lakeview Centennial and Garland is on the road at Sachse.

Lee defeated Rowlett in their first meeting in Garland 63-54, but may need another win to guarantee its playoff berth. In any scenario, a loss by Rockwall guarantees Lee at least fourth place. Regardless if REL defeats Rowlett or not.

But there are many playoff scenarios that factor in for Lee depending on tonight’s result.

Win over Rowlett coupled with Rockwall loss and Garland win: The Red Raiders eliminate Rockwall and jump over Rowlett to finish in third place thanks to its series win over Rowlett.

Win over Rowlett coupled with Rockwall win and anything: Same thing applies. Lee has to lose for Rockwall to factor in.

Win over Rowlett coupled with Garland loss: Things get a little interesting here. That would leave a three-way tie for second place. Lee’s sweep of Rowlett doesn’t factor in here. Three-way playoff to determine final seeding.

Loss to Rowlett coupled with Rockwall loss: Red Raiders finish fourth and grab the final playoff spot in District 11-6A

Loss to Rowlett coupled with Rockwall win: Red Raiders and Rockwall split their season series, so a play-in game would have to take place later this week to determine the fourth and final playoff member.
