Edgewood girls advance

GREENVILLE — Demiya Warren and Paige Parker each hit for 17 points as the Edgewood Lady Bulldogs scored a 49-48 bi-district girls basketball win over Van Alstyne Monday night.
Edgewood (21-10) advances to meet Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill in the area round later this week.
“It was a hard-fought game by both teams,” Edgewood coach Kyle Short said. “We had a few playoff jitters in the first half, but played much better in the second half.”
The Lady Bulldogs trailed 36-29 heading into the fourth quarter, but outscored Van Alstyne 20-12 in the final period.
Kayla Dorsey and Paige Parker each had 10 rebounds for Edgewood.
