TYLER (KYTX)- It’s been called mommy porn and Thursday it premiered on the big screen. Fifty Shades of Grey is one of the most talked about movies and it’s not all good.

As Lisa Sagebiel sits reading Fifty Shades of Grey for the fourth time in Longview, she can’t help but think about the upcoming movie premiere.

“I’m excited, I want to see how it changes from book to screenplay, if the chemistry is there and it works out right. I’m just excited about it and I’ve been waiting on it for a while,” Sagebiel said.

The movie, based on the erotic trilogy, is expected to draw huge crowds at the box office. However, there’s a big movement against seeing the movie because of the messages it sends. Tyler counselor Chris Legg agrees with that.

“The message that it’s ok to be abused, ok to be controlled, because really those are just versions of love, they aren’t versions of love,” Legg said.

There’s sex in the movie, no one disagrees with that, but Sagebiel says that’s not what the series is all about.

“If you actually get into the book and read the story line, there’s so much more than that so I really enjoyed getting into their heads and listening to how they worked everything out between them,” Sagebiel said.

Legg agrees that the movie may have a compelling storyline, but still advocates against seeing it.

“I am a little bit brokenhearted that our country has lost whole of the concept of human sexuality as something sacred and special,” Legg said.

As for how many people hit the box office? That still remains to be seen. Fans say it’s your choice to see it or not.

“I guarantee you there’s going to be a lot of people out there that like it and a lot of people that don’t but that’s just personal opinion,” Sagebiel said.

It’s not only the theatres that are taking part in the phenomenon. Many stores are selling Fifty Shades themed merchandise, things like wine and teddy bears.
