Radio Shack to close eight East Texas locations

(KYTX) — RadioShack’s plans to close about half of its stores in the next six weeks will include eight locations in East Texas.
Listed below are the East Texas stores closing by the end of March: Tyler – Broadway Square Mall 4601 S BROADWAY AVE Texarkana – 4501 N STATE LINE AVE 103 and Central Mall 2300 RICHMOND RD Crockett – Crockett Plaza 1243 E LOOP 304 #1243 Sulphur Springs – 1339 S BROADWAY Marshall – Eastpark S C 120 EAST END BLVD N Gun Barrel City – Liberty Plaza Shopping Center 1307 W MAIN ST Palestine – Palestine Plaza 1625 S LOOP 256.
Radioshack says its network of as many as 5,000 locations became an unaffordable burden, with many stores competing against each other. The company has not said how many jobs will be lost from the store closings, or from the company giving up about one third of the floor space in its remaining stores to cell phone provider Sprint. RadioShack had about 21,000 employees as of its bankruptcy filing last Thursday. You can see the full list of closures on RadioShack’s website:
