Palestine man sentenced to 10 years for child pornography

Joshua Quick, of Palestine, was sentenced to federal prison today for child pornography charges in the Eastern District of Texas, according to U.S. Attorney John M. Bales.

 


Quick plead guilty on Oct. 14, 2014 to receiving child pornography and was sentenced to 10 years in prison by U.S. District Judge Leonard Davis. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender upon release from prison.  

 

Information presented in court, showed on Sept. 14, 2013, Quick received child pornography on a computer after using the computer to solicit the participation of a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct persuading the minor to produce images depicting child pornography. He was indicted by a federal grand jury on Feb. 26, 2014.

 

This case was investigated as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, which was launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Spearheaded by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood uses marshal’s federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

 

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and the Urbandale, Iowa Police Department investigated this case.
