KILGORE (KYTX) – A woman missing for nine months, presumed dead was found alive in Lexington, Kentucky after a random traffic stop. She’s alive and well. The man who’s been at the top of the suspect list for her disappearance is the woman’s long-time friend. CBS 19’s Katiera Winfrey has his side of the story.

“As bad as they wanted me to be guilty, everybody her children her mother in law everyone had already convicted me,” said Craig Davison.

He said he always knew today would come. His long-time friend Christina Rae Davison was found alive. He said although the two share last names, they were never married. He said before she disappeared, Christina legally changed her last name.

“Knife marks in a mattress and blood that suggested something may have happened to her and we started that launched the investigation into her whereabouts,” said Kilgore Police spokesperson Roman Roberson.

Craig says since day one, he’s been suspect number one

“Justice is served by two sets of evidence coming to one conclusion, they never asked me about any of it, and the evidence i has was she was gathering money and trying to escape trying to hide,” Craig said.

The discovery that Christina was alive started when police pulled her over and found out she had drug related warrants out of Harrison County. Now she’s also facing drug possession and drug paraphernalia charges in Kentucky.

“It just irritated me that everyone was getting one side of the story.”

Craig says living with the stigma that he was somehow responsible for Christina’s disappearance has been tough on him and it’s been tough on the people he loves.

“You go down and pump gas and you have anything to do with me, you know it’s bad.”

“Relief relief it’s over, all the stories all the looks i don’t have to question him,” said Craig’s girlfriend Kellie Hickman.

Craig freely admits, he has a criminal past but he’s happy people now know, when it comes to Christina’s disappearance, he’s innocent.

“How many innocent people have ruined or lost their life or whatever they loved for stupidity.”

As of right now, police don’t know why Christina decided to lose contact with family and friends. However, her experience with the law isn’t over. In addition to her pending charges in Kentucky, she will eventually be extradited back to Harrison County to face her warrants there.
