3 injured in assault late Wednesday on Texas College campus

Three people were injured in an assault late Wednesday night on the Texas College campus in Tyler.

According to Tyler police, the male driver of a car with two passengers was attacked by several unknown suspects after 10 p.m. During the assault, the driver attempted to flee in his vehicle. A female occupant was attempting to exit the car and fell out. As the driver backed the vehicle up, the woman was struck and injured in the process.


The driver then struck a light pole, was forcefully removed from the car by the assailants, and was then severely assaulted, ultimately receiving non-life threatening injuries, police said. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arriving. A third occupant was in the back seat, but sustained minimal injuries. All three individuals were transported to the hospital for treatment.
