DALLAS (AP) — A fired barber shop worker accused of returning to the Dallas County business and fatally shooting his boss has pleaded guilty to murder.

Thirty-two-year-old Charles Dewayne Hooks pleaded guilty Tuesday in the death of Alejandro Fernandez.

The Dallas Morning News reports Hooks entered his plea right before the trial began. The jury will instead listen to testimony to determine Hooks’ punishment, which could range between five and 99 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Hooks walked up to Fernandez the day he was terminated in June 2013 for inappropriate dress and behavior. They say Hooks fatally shot Fernandez once in the chest while he was cutting someone’s hair.
