TIFTON — A warehouse focused on providing storage for seed and chemical operations is slated to set up shop in Tift County.

Staff of shipping company CRC Logistics broke ground at the corner of Windy Hill and Oakridge Church Road Oct. 8 alongside county and chamber officials, beginning development on their 270,000 square foot storage facility to be built in the county.

The facility will dedicate 50,000 square feet to both temperature-controlled and chemical-containment storage, and is expected to feature 60 to 80 dock stations as well as a distribution center for use by various agricultural and chemical companies or corporations.

Construction crews were hard at work developing the site during the morning ceremony, with those in attendance of the event in high spirits over the opportunities the new development in the county would bring.

Tony McBrayer, chair of the Tift County Board of Commissioners, welcomed the logistics company to Tift County, proud to have such a facility come to the area.

He estimated that the facility, once completed and fully operational, would bring at least 40 jobs to the Tiftarea, and would be an investment of more than $18 million in the local economy.

CRC chief operating officer Robert Gadola was also optimistic regarding the new development.

“To us, this isn’t just opening up another operating facility,” Gadola said. “It’s also being a part of — and being privileged to be a part of — the Tifton community. I want to thank you all for the warm welcome and bringing us into the community with open arms.”

CRC Logistics is a shipping company specialized in warehouse and trucking operations, with nationwide and international locations.

Gadola expressed confidence in the positive impact the facility would have on the area’s economy, noting in particular that local gas stations and restaurants would likely benefit from the multitude of freight trucks transporting shipments to and from the warehouse.

He estimated that construction on the facility would be completed by June or July of next year, but operations would begin closer to August.
